The Peregrine Falcon is the fastest living creature in the world, reaching speeds of up to 200km per hour when diving for its prey.

The largest bird egg was an Ostrich egg that weighed 2.3kg.

The oldest recorded bird in the world was a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo who lived to more than 80 years of age.

The highest recorded altitude reached by a bird (Vulture) is 11,300 metres (37,000 feet).

The Sooty Tern (sea bird) is believed to stay aloft continuously for between 3 to 10 years after leaving their nesting grounds when young.
